Perseverance and Resilience are at the core of who Tiffany (Lewis) Gilmore is. In 2018 she made the BOLD decision to quit her six figure job and ferociously fight to eradicate the achievement gap for Black & Brown students. Mrs. Gilmore was denied 3 times, but on April 3, 2019 history was made. Garvey/Allen Visual & Performing Arts Academy for STEM was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED by the Riverside County Board of Education. 

While the journey has been long and arduous, the marathon continues to invoke real change in education. The #GAVPAASTEM movement can only continue to thrive with consistent support and intentional actions moving forward. The recent transition of economic activist, Nipsey Hussle, has reignited the importance of ownership, community involvement and cultural preservation. But we cannot continue to wait until a tragedy occurs in order to galvanize and mobilize our community. It is this generation’s time to grab the baton, run our leg of the race, and BE THE SOLUTION!!!
