Long years of battling cancer have been taking their toll on a good family in Northeast Ohio. Those who know Steve and Sue Derr know what phenomenal people they are. Steve has been battling cancer valiantly for several years, now. They have been going day by day, trying to stay positive in a world that would rather take their money than empathize with the situation they are in. Steve has decided to discontinue his chemotherapy treatment and live out the rest of his days in the comfort of his home, surrounded by friends and family and the people he loves. The years have surmounted immense medical bills. Chemotherapy, radiation, surguries, medication, doctors visits, etc. have stocked up; yet a couple that would give the very shirts of their back would never request any kind of help.
As their daughter, I'm asking for help.
My mother is a secretary working full time at the same hospital she's been with for 25+ years. As one can imagine, the pay isn't phenomenal. My parents have given their all for their family and others over the years, and the desire within my heart to give back is overwhelming. Anything that anyone is willing to give would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to keep this a private affair, for now, so when all is said and done, I can present whatever amount of money I am able to raise to my deserving parents. They are both holding onto their pride among all of this heartache, and I want them to continue doing so. Like I said, anything helps. If even a little dent can be made in these bills; if even a little amount of comfort can be offered in their time of need, I pray that it can be given to them.
I will be adjusting the "cap" from time to time because I want to keep this open for a while to see just how much I can do. If I can keep meeting goals, then I will continue to raise it. Please be assured that I am by no means looking to be greedy or unrealistic in any of this. I just want to help as much as possible. I understand some people may not be able to donate right now or at all. I completely understand. Even just going so far as to spread the word is doing a great service to two wonderful people.
