HELP Paratransit Riders: HELP IMPRUVE STOP TRANSIT EUGENICS FOR PWDs (Persons who are disabled). We (PWDs) are the largest minority in the world, 20% of the nation's population.
There are 43,311 paratransit riders in Chicago and over 66,000 in NE IL.
We are trying to raise a very modest $22,000 to cover the program budgets for the two most important campaigns while still operating with a volunteer staff and board, and covering gofundme fees.
The $22,000 is only 58 cents per paratransit rider in Chicago.
For 16 years, IMPRUVE, the Independent Movement Of Paratransit Riders for Unity, Vehicles, Equality has worked for full accessibility on Pace and CTA vehicles and taxis that transport PWDs (People who are disabled). Paratransit riders want better services now. No more stranding 2-6 hours, riding in opposite directions from our destinations 2-3 hours, late for appointments. Some of us are medically fragile. All of us are not paralyzed, but it is no excuse to ride us in uncomfortable vehicles if we are. We are not livestock, but even livestock would be uncomfortable in all of the MV Transportation minibuses and most of the other carrier minibus vehicles in IL. Do not transport us for hours in vehicles that ride like trucks on unpaved roads or mountainous regions. Return paratransit to CTA until riders can set up their own.

IMPRUVE is running the Paratransit Minuteman Campaign to file federal civil rights complaints under #16-0447 with the FTA (Federal Transit Administration). We are raising $20,000 to fund our Rider-Driver Alliance project to organize paratransit riders and drivers, and our Paratransit Minuteman Campaign to help riders file their complaints, and provide public awareness of the violations of their civil rights. Your donation can help paratransit riders regain transit independence. Your donation can help IMPRUVE stop the abuses by Pace carriers and hire organizers to travel to where paratransit riders are in order to file FTA complaints on Pace.
Through your help and public awareness, we can provide better legislative advocacy in order to regain transit independence, and create our own Green Paratransit owned by the Paratransit riders alone or in alliance with Paratransit drivers. We will re-establish the Rider-Driver Alliance, first with paratransit riders and drivers, last with public fixed route transit riders and drivers, meet with and appeal to state legislators, Congress and the FTA to stop the abuses. We need affordable alternatives to the uncomfortable or unrideable hydraulic lift mini-buses or return of choice in order to select proper accessible vehicles. We can also negotiate with Congress and the FTA to enforce the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitataion Act and review CFR 49, Sections 27, 37-39 in light of the alleged violations reported by certified riders.
