We have started this fund to help our parents, Mark and Robin Frizzell, with ever climbing medical bills due to a life changing set of circumstances they have been affected by. We are also asking for prayer. The Frizzell family is a family of God and faith. We believe God is bigger than anything and the power of prayer is strong and true. Thank you all for taking the time to read our story and for anything you can do to help.
This past year has honestly been the most trying year of our lives. On June 30th, 2014, my dad, Mark Frizzell, went to the doctor after waking up having trouble with his hand function while typing. The doctor sent him to have a MRI since there was seemingly nothing wrong with him that he could see. He was the picture of a strong and healthy man. On July 1st, Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a golf ball. We don’t know where it came from or what caused it. It hit us all out of nowhere. Within the following 3 weeks, Mark suffered a grand mal seizure, 3 days in ICU, brain surgery to remove the tumor, and after seeing the tumor the neurosurgeon gave us the news we had been dreading. It was a stage 4 glioblastoma, brain cancer. On that day we realized we were in for the fight of our lives. Since then, Mark has undergone 13 rounds of radiation, suffered a second seizure/minor stroke due to swelling from the radiation, and is currently on his 10th round of chemo. The chemo he is being treated with has caused blood clots and a pulmonary embolism. He has had to take a pause from the chemo treatments in order to receive blood thinners to eliminate the clots. While we enjoy seeing him getting stronger, we are all ready for him to start his chemo again in 2 weeks due to the aggressiveness of this type of cancer.
However, we have gotten nothing but great news from the doctors. They say the chemo is working and there has been great reduction in the cancer. They say we are “on the winning path!” We are praising the Lord for every victory and trust in Him for continued victories.
Even though things are going very well, the struggle this has caused Mark and Robin has been devastating. With his risk of seizure, my dad can no longer be alone. My parents spend the weekdays living with my grandparents an hour away since my mom can not afford to stop working. My mom, Robin, drives an hour every morning to work and an hour back home to take care of my dad and nephew, who has been in their care for the last two years. They come back to their apartment in Mansfield on the weekends so that my nephew can see his friends and they can see me, my siblings, and my two boys that they miss seeing everyday so much. We are such a close family and it has been truly devastating to not be able to see each other everyday. I would give anything just to sit with my dad and quote movies or have one of our father-daughter dates and just talk for hours. The chemo has made him so tired and he is not up for too much conversation. It hurts him so much to not be able to play catch or go to sports games or even be able to pick up his grandkids right now.
My siblings and I are trying to pull together to help them as much as possible, but my younger brother is a full time student, my sister makes a little above minimum wage, and I am a recent single mother of two.
It is heartbreaking to watch my parents go through all of this. They are such amazing people and role models. They have set such a wonderful example for who I want to be. Mark and Robin have both dedicated their lives to the Lord and to spreading His word. They live a life of testimony and have stood firm in their faith during this entire situation. It is truly inspiring. They have always worked so hard to make sure we know we are loved and truly cherished. They would gladly go without to make sure we want for nothing. Even now, with everything they are going through, they stay completely involved in all of our lives.
They truly deserve every good thing in life. They have touched so many lives with their hearts full of giving and kindness. This year they have faced the fight of their lives and will continue to fight and stand strong in their faith. I thank God everyday that He blessed my life with them as parents, role models, and friends. I only wish I could help them more. We are asking for donations to help them with the medical bills that are continuously adding up and other expenses they are struggling with. Any little bit will help and be much appreciated.
