Gia's Road to Healing

Donation protected
On Sunday August 26, 2018, Gia was admitted to hospital after her blood count had dropped to dangerous levels; rendering her terribly weak and unable to function. She was severely anemic and needed an urgent blood transfusion. Through the generosity of many friends and family members donating blood, she was able to receive the transfusion that afternoon.

On Wednesday, after seeing a specialist, it was determined that an out-patient surgical procedure was needed and should be done ASAP to avoid further deterioration and worsening of her severe iron deficiency anemia.

Those of you who know Gia and her family, know that the last few years have been filled with challenges. After more than a year of multiple doctor’s visits, and a lack of the correct diagnosis, her husband Sean was finally given a devastating cancer diagnosis. Then sadly, after two months of treatment and residual follow-ups, he was hit with the same diagnosis a year from the first one. So needless to say, after two years of medical expenses due to cancer treatment everything they had was depleted. And to top it off, while she was away with him in hospital for his cancer surgery she was dropped by her insurance provider. However, even though we are grateful that he was given the all clear last month, the residual medical expenses for supplies and follow-up scans is still quite costly.

Gia works for herself, but has not been able to put in a full day for quite a while. So it is safe to estimate that by the time she is able to put in full days, she would have lost about two months salary. This loss of income was definitely not needed after already being financially depleted from the last few years of medical bills; therefore she needs our help.

In order to be processed in the ER on Sunday, she needed to put up a deposit. Then when it was decided for her to be admitted, that initial deposit was doubled. She is still waiting on a final bill, but it is expected to be about $5,000. It is very urgent that she undergoes the aforementioned surgical procedure so as to prevent a dire scenario in which she needs another blood transfusion. But before she can go ahead with this much needed procedure, it must be paid in full. And this is estimated to be about $3,500.

I decided to start this GoFundMe after many requests from her friends and loved ones. Therefore, any way that you can help will be much appreciated; financially, by praying, or sharing.

In conclusion I'd like to share one of the many get well wishes she received after being released from hospital:

“Hey Gia!!! Just wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you and praying for you!!!  I hope you can figure out what’s going on!... if anyone can it will be you!! I spent the night before you went into the hospital talking with friends about you, almost as if I felt you!!! Of course everything I said was so true... you are an amazing woman and so knowledgeable about health and life and always worrying about everyone else you love instead of yourself!  We are all here for you, if you need anything please please don’t hesitate!  Sending you a heart full of love and prayers and of course one thing you’ve always had... belief!... never give up! I love you ❤” – A good friend & client of Gia’s

*Edited to Add – September 7, 2018 – I started this GoFundMe for my Mum (Gia Greene) after several friends of hers came to me asking that I do. I just want to make it clear that I am handling all aspects of the GoFundMe and have withdrawn, and will continue to withdraw, the donations in my name and I've sent & will send them to my Mum through Moneygram for her to pay the hospital, doctor, etc. Please if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me!
