Frances J. Curvan Health Initiative

October 17, 2016 will be a day that I will never forget I lost my grandmother and role model, Rev. Frances J. Curvan, to cancer. To honor her life and continue her legacy, my company Vocal A.C.T.I.O.N., LLC, started the Frances J. Curvan Health Initiative. The intiative is a part of the company's philanthropic committment to A.C.T.I.O.N. Global- a means for us to pursue endeavors to do good and provide pro-bono consulting services around the world.
Similar to the company's mission, The Frances J. Curvan Health Initiative (FJCHI) will help to increase health awareness and decrease heath disparities within minority communities through advocacy and fundraising.
In 1996, my grandmother was challenged to her first fight with cancer, breast cancer, and she won-TWICE! Her victory was largely due to early detection and a supportive family.
It is only fitting that the FJCHI will celebrate its inaugural year by helping others to "claim the victory" over breast cancer. It is our turn to help ensure that all people of color have access to early detection options and those that are diagnosed with breast cancer receive support.
This year from September 23-October 31, we are raising money for the Ellie Fund and Tufts Medical Center Breast Health Center, Boston, MA. Our cumulative donations will be earmarked for projects that benefit Black, Latino/Hispanic, and Native American women and families. Ellie Fund provides essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing. The Breast Health Center at Tufts Medical Center provides comprehensive care for all aspects of breast health. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) non-profits so your gift is always tax deductible.
