Kat Speaker - Medical Fund
On August 11th, Kat was admitted to Mercy ER complaining of abdominal pain. It was there that large spots were detected on her liver/colon. A week later, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer.
This diagnosis comes only days before the upcoming school year is to begin. Kat is going on her 12th year as a Criminal Justice teacher at the Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy, a vocational center for local high schools. As a retired veteran of the US Navy, she has spent her time working with local students on exploring the fields of Criminal Justice and likewise career paths. This year, she will be unable to return to her class, as she will be undergoing a rigorous Chemotherapy schedule.
Under her current disability plan, she will be unable to collect the full extent of her average earnings. This is a drop to her income, and comes at a time where every bit counts. Kat and her family would like to ask for your help - Donations will be used to lighten the burdens of costly expenses due to Chemo therapy, travel costs to and from Iowa City and out of pocket medical fees. Any donation is greatly appreciate; Well-wishes, prayers and good vibes are ALWAYS welcome.
