Okay. We are trying not to panic here. We recently played Good Samaritan for someone, expecting that they would pay us back today. Now, we find out, that isn't happening, which would be bad news at any time, but is especially bad now, since (maybe you heard) our daughter is getting married.
In five days.
We had planned on using the money for that.
So what are we doing? We're doing what we can. We're selling both of our cars, neither of which run at this point, for a grand total of $420. Not 420 per, 420 total. If we had anything else we could liquidate, we would. I've contacted every payday loan place I can--an idea I hate, but, desperate times and all that--and they all insist on old-fashioned paper checks (our bank is online).
So, to our crushing embarrassment, we need some additional help. Let me be clear, though: we are NOT asking for a handout. Both Cathy and I are willing to sing for our supper, as it were, and, like Liam Neeson, we have certain skills. Cathy is a rock star at genealogy; if you've ever wanted a family tree done, or want your connection to a specific person confirmed or denied, she can do that; if you want someone found or researched, she can do that. I’ve seen her do it. As for me, I can write, I can edit, I can make pretty words. Maybe you've got a small business that needs ad copy, or social media content; maybe your kid has an essay due (that needs editing or proofing—I don’t write for students). I can and will do it. Need anything else done? Say so; we'll talk. Content with a written IOU? Works for us as well. All I ask is this: I'm setting this so the bride and groom, my other kids, and my mother won't see it; with anxiety disorders and other considerations in the mix, it wouldn’t be beneficial for them to know. If you're in contact with them, please don't mention this.
