My name is Monique Romero. I live in New Iberia, Louisiana with my daughter and fiancé. On Friday, August 12th, my daughter and I woke up to begin our day, which apparently started without us. We had almost an inch of water in our bathroom, creeping in under the foundation of my home. Within hours my family had 4 inches of water in our home, as did my fiancé's parents. In 48 hours we received over 22" of rain. We live behind my fiancé's parents, and just found out that their insurance doesn't cover the building we live in. We've spent the last 36 hours gutting our home. The insulation wicked up the flood waters and destroyed our walls. Since it wasn't insured, we're on our own. We're asking for help. Whatever you can donate would help us get back on our feet. Sharing so that we have the chance of others donating. We were completely unprepared for a "little disturbance in the Gulf" to wipe us out of our home.

If you find it in your heart to donate to us I will pay it forward. The tables have turned on me, I have lived in Louisiana my whole life and never experienced a flood like this before. My fiancé and I were able to save our clothes and whatever we could stack up high but the humidity is awful. We know times are hard. If you could share this that would be greatly appreciated.
