Donation protected
The Building Lions, an all-girls South Florida robotics team from Southwest Ranches, received a bid to attend the 2018 State of Florida FIRST LEGO League Championship  in St. Augustine, FL and was chosen as 1 of the 5 teams that will represent the United States in the FIRST LEGO League Estonian Open International, out of a pool of 17,778 U.S. teams.

The team needs YOUR HELP to get there!

The girls have been long time friends and when the FIRST LEGO League Hydrodynamics season started, they decided to form an all-girls team. The Building Lions first participated in the Pine Crest Qualifying Tournament where they won the Best Project Award and a bid to the South Florida FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship.

Among the many outreach activities the team did this year, The Building Lions:

· Helped the FIRST LEGO League teams at Young Women Preparatory School in Miami to get ready for their FIRST LEGO League competitions.

· Held a Girls Excelling in Math and Science - GEMS - event at their school.

· Participated in the Barnes and Noble Makers Faire (only school in display).

· Helped two other competing teams prepare to go to the South Florida Regional event.

· Shared their project and solution with their community at Publix.

Over the course of this season, this team of girls has developed skills in coding, robotics, problem solving, communication, cooperation, team-building, and public speaking. Skills they share with their classmates and that they will carry with them into the future.

At the South Florida FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship, on February 24th, the team won the Robot Mechanical Design Award, as well as received a bid to the 2018 State of Florida FIRST LEGO League Championship in St. Augustine, and a bid to attend the FIRST LEGO League Estonian Open International in June.

The FIRST LEGO League Estonian Open International is being held in honor of Estonia’s 100th anniversary and will host 100 teams from 80 different countries. These Lions know this event will give them another chance to hone their skills, but more importantly, they are thrilled and honored to represent their school, the South Florida community, and the United States in Estonia!

Please help them get there!

If you would like to help this team continue to be an inspiration to girls in their community and everywhere, please donate here and we will be deeply grateful forever and ever.
