Tuition for Fall Semester at FIU

Hello, My name is Maria Quezada.

First and foremost, let me tell you that I am a driven student. I have been in honors courses since I was in middle school. I graduated a couple months ago from community college. I graduated with a 3.67 GPA and I have the honor to be accepted into Florida International University and into their Pre-Med program and their Honors College. I am raising money to be able to attend Fall Semester 2017 to FIU . 

The reason why I need to raise the money for tuition and housing is because I was given a full scholarship that pays for tuition at FIU but unfortunately I was told I cannot accept the scholarship because I am a DACA student. 

I wish there was something I could do to fix that, but unfortunately I cannot. Honestly, I am very proud to have accomplished as much as I have, especially because I have had to deal with being a DACA student every time I am admitted to any university. 

I am studying to become a pediatric neurosurgeon. I have always mainted a GPA of 3.5 or greater. I am the type of woman that will always work hard to do well in school. 

I have already applied to get a job on campus. I will do my best to save money for next semester and I will apply to more scholarships than before, but I am reaching a deadline to raise this money and pay for my tuition and housing by the 28th of this month. My parents cannot help me financially because we live on a day to day basis when it comes to money. They are the reason why I want to do better for myself and for them. I want to make sure they do not stop providing for my younger brother to help me with college.

and there are a couple lab/transportation/health fees that bring me to a total amount of $8,684 to be payed by August 28th. 

I would be extremely grateful if any help could come my way. Every dollar counts and I am very very appreciative of any help that you - my community - could help me with. 

I promise all of you, that I will do my best to be one of the best students at my future university. I will study and push myself to do better daily. I promise all of you that I will continue studying and I will not let anything deter me from my goals, so please, find it in your hearts to help me get there.
