Volunteers in Mission: Estonia Trip
Donation protected
"God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called."
I never went on mission trips in middle/high school because I didn't feel like my talents included roofing or demolition, or possibly because I didn't want to get dirty. When, in January 2011, I saw the posting in the church bulletin for a mission team to Estonia I immediately said "I want to go." Why now? Why did God want me to go? I'd never even been to South Carolina for my church's annual summer mission trip, why did He want me to go across the world?
After almost swallowing my tongue upon the discovery of the trip's cost, I began fundraising in exchange for babysitting, petsitting, dog walking, and numerous other tasks. I told God "ok, I'm not sure what your plan is for me in Estonia but if it's meant to be, it'll happen." Church members, friends, and family were extremely generous and before I knew it I was in Estonia.
Our group spent time with the Tree of Life United Methodist Church in Voru and also with a children's summer camp in Rapina. While working at the church I discovered I am pretty good at swinging a sledgehammer! Concrete was busted and flooring installed, but the relationships formed there are stronger than the foundation of the church. My life was forever changed by the time I spent in the place I believe is the most beautiful on Earth.
The opportunity for me to go back to Estonia in June 2014 has arisen and, with your help, I would be honored to return there to serve. Thank you for your support and prayers!
