Eryka Owens Fund

On October 24th Wyoming Middle School student Eryka Owens was hit by a car at the intersection of Wyoming and Springfield Pike. The collision left Eryka with serious injuries. She lost 3 permanent teeth, has a broken upper jaw, crushed bone sockets, a nasal fracture, a partial lung collapse and a concussion.

Eryka recently had the stitches in her face removed, scabs are falling off, and swelling has gone down. She will be on a liquid and mechanically soft diet for the next 6 weeks.

Eryka started back to school half days mostly to improve her psychological well being. She went through several days of being so depressed she didn't want to be awake.

Although Eryka is healing she will need continuous follow up care over the next several months if not years.

All funds donated to this account will go to filling immediate financial gaps and softening financial hardships due to lost wages. Eryka is from a single parent home and her mother Aisha is taking unpaid time off while Eryka heals and to take Eryka to all appointments. Eryka has at least two medical appointments every week well into 2018.

Eryka will also need to undergo medical procedures after all bone growth has stopped. Insurance will not cover these procedures and money will need to be set aside for it.

Eryka's family needs money now.  Rent, groceries, and living expenses must be paid. Anything you can contribute will help ease the pain the Owens are experiencing.  The Owens have lived in Wyoming since 2002.  Aisha graduated Wyoming High School and is now raising Eryka and her siblings in our beloved community.  Let's step up and care for our own!
