Growth is a forever process and some of us have had to find out their own paths to success. At 36 years old, I used every penny I had and left the life I had known to become a Vocal Performance student at UMASS Amherst. Letting go of all I had known of value and worth and purpose to go into this new adventure was the most frightening and challenging thing I have done to date.
This has led me to the next step in my growth phase. My desire is to earn certification to work, live and share a Yoga way of life with all that I know. I have been accepted into one of the most highly respected yoga schools, the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, for the 200hr Yoga Training Course. This is a one month residential course with a rigorous schedule daily for 30 days. Lodging and meals are provided as is the educational and life experiences that will last a life time.
With the skills I will acquire while training as a Kripalu teacher, I plan to bring yoga to a vast demographic ranging from fellow performers, recovering addicts, and low income families/ high risk youth that would not otherwise be able to afford regularly priced classes. With my degree in Vocal Performance and Physical Therapy I hope to incorporate all healing modalities into my business plan as healer and performer. While in school it is my desire to offer regular classes to other music and performance students, particularly focusing on singers and instrumentalists, at a rate that a student can afford. The body is an instrument and for those who play instruments outside of the body these repetitive motions can cause damage if they are not balanced correctly. Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique are also modalities I hope to become certified in and incorporate into my practice. I am also Reiki II certified and will be working towards my Mastership in the near future. With all of these skills I hope to bring comfort to a demographic of persons that would otherwise not have access. I would like to work closely with the Department of Children and Families as well as Urban Development and Community Planning organizations.
This campaign will fund my tuition and ongoing living expenses while I am in residence at the Kripalu School.
