Help Emmett Walk

Emmett was diagnosed with the genetic disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy-Type II, just a few months before his second birthday. There is no cure for this disease and most children never walk or even stand. Emmett's parents were very concerned with his inability to put weight on his legs to stand. Just a few months after his first birthday, they started having numerous tests done and their whole world crashed around them. They found out in September of 2013, that he had SMA. The doctors have said that he more than likely will never walk and will probably be in a wheelchair the rest of his life. His parents have so much more hope for him than that. They do exercises with him everyday to help strengthen his muscles. He has never been able to walk or even stand up on his own.  Sometimes he can remain in a standing position if placed there and if someone is helping him. His only way of getting around on his own is to crawl, and his low muscle tone makes this a slow, tedious task for him and he gets discouraged to get around (we can sometimes encourage him with gummy bears...lol). He gets to use a standing wheelchair (his "standing bike"-as Emmett calls it) once a week in physical therapy but his mom and dad are trying to get him one for home, in hopes to motivate him to be a little bit more independent. His doctors have also recommended hip and leg braces to help his strength. They will also need a handicap accessible house to be able to get around with all his equipment. Although Emmett's mom and dad both have hard working jobs, their medical expenses are going to be a lifelong challenge and insurance doesn't cover these expenses fully. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the amount of his standing wheelchair and leg braces, and maybe have enough left over to put towards a down payment on a house that Emmett will be able to grow up in with his needs. Anything, and everything donated is more than generous and greatly appreciated!
