Empower Lives, End Violence: Walking in ALOHA

Aloha, my name is Michelle; I’m a domestic violence survivor.

Being a victim of domestic violence made me feel like I was all alone; being a SURVIVOR of domestic violence taught me that it was all a LIE. I realized that there’s a COMMUNITY that wants the same thing that I want and what millions of others want… to stop domestic violence and heal the hurting! WE CAN DO THAT TOGETHER!!

Did you know that one out of every three women will be abused at some point in her life? A woman is more likely to be killed by a male partner (or former partner) than any other person. About 4,000 women die each year due to domestic violence. THAT NEEDS TO STOP!!!

Writing Walking in ALOHA, 5 Steps to Living Your God Potential Life took me years. As I wrote, I realized what a powerful faith-based tool this is. It will pull victims through the pains of their past and free them for the future!

I feel so blessed that I accomplished my goal this July and completed this book right before my 55th birthday, but now I need your help to get Walking in ALOHA professionally published and into the hands of those who need it. I can’t do it alone, I need your help. I'm not one to ask for help, many people can vouch for that, but I know that if I don't ask, then I won't get the help I need.

My aim was to launch Walking in ALOHA, 5 Steps to Living Your God Potential Life, by October 2023 in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month; I know that every minute, every hour, every day that we wait, someone is not being helped and feels all alone. I want to bring faith, and hope, and let them know we are here and they are NOT alone.

I was welcomed into Westbow Press and the Thomas Nelson & Zondervan family of authors! To be connected to a name like Thomas Nelson & Zondervan is a dream come true!! Our publishing package will be a total of $6, 074 with a discount of $1,199! We went with the 3-month payment plan and paid the first installment of $1,674. The other $400 will allow me to continue to develop future books, workbooks, and design coaching courses spawned from Walking In ALOHA. I first had $700 as a starting goal because I didn't know how much it was to publish professionally. Now that we have our agreement signed, I know the total cost and can ask for an accurate amount. We have raised $390 so far so we have a ways to go. Please share this out and post to your social media pages. The more we get the word out the more eyes will see and perhaps the more hearts it will touch.

The only drawback with going with Westbow Press is that they won't be able to get the book out until Christmas or the beginning of the New Year. My publishing consultant assured me that it would be better for my readers since there are always holiday sales during that time and not so much in October. I told her that it was still important for me to do something in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I will do all I can to support the different organizations that help victims and survivors of DV in October and offer them copies of my book once it's published. I will also do an event sharing the contents of my book and offer a free excerpt.

Honestly, looking at the publishing guidelines that I was sent, I can understand why it will take longer than a month to publish. There's a lot that goes into creating a book!
