Emily Simpson - Dance to Russia

THANK YOU for visiting our GoFundMe 'Dance in Russia' site.  I'm raising money on behalf of my daughter, Emily.  She is the ballet dancer in the photo.

Generous sponsorship already helped Emily to 'Dance TO Russia' and take up the invitation to train at one of the world's most famous ballet schools.  Now, we are raising funds to help Emily remain IN Russia and complete the second half of her year.  The target amount is due to be paid by the end of January/beginning of February!

She says, "Although I am from the UK, I grew up constantly moving due to my parent's voluntary work. Whether it was moving across the world, moving cities, moving house, or moving my body, I was never still.  My passion for dance began in Chinese kindergarten.  I became accustomed to performing in front of people and began to appreciate the joy it gave me.  That joy has become stronger throughout the years and become a part of what I want to accomplish with my life.  The joy that I feel when I dance is exhilarating and passionate.  My heart fills up with majestic pleasure.   It's become a part of who I am and who I want to become.

My life has been a see saw, full of many ups and downs. It's been an adventure that has taken me all around the world to places I never dreamed I would go including China, Thailand, and Canada, as well as the UK. Keeping up consistent, strong ballet training has been a challenge and so have the finances.  Both my parents and myself have had to make many sacrifices to help me pursue ballet.  However, the things that looked impossible have always become possible and shown me that this is exactly what I should be doing despite the challenges.

Now my life is changing once more and this is one of the biggest, most exciting, thrilling, and seemingly impossible challenges. I have been accepted in to the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg, Russia, one of the world's most prestigious ballet schools.  Only 60 out of 3,000 applicants are selected each year, and these include very few from the UK so I am very privileged. 

Through generous sponsorship, I made it to Russia, and I have now been training here for half a year. However, in order to complete the year, I need £2,191 ($3,512.68)) by the end of January/beginning of February. If you sponsor me, you will be sponsoring not just a talented ballet dancer, but a girl with a big heart, a big dream and a HUGE passion for creating a special story for her life, a story that will one day be shared to help inspire others to see that the impossible can become possible.
