Mobility Vehicle for Emeka Nnaka

My name is Emeka Nnaka and in 2009, at the age of 21, I broke my neck making a tackle in a semi professional football game. Then and there I suffered a C5/C6 spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed from my chest down. My life changed in the blink of an eye! After a 9hr surgery to repair my neck, I spent 3 months in intensive physical therapy.

Through faith, hard work, and perseverance, I have been able to turn my tragedy into triumph! Now living in Tulsa, Ok., I volunteer by serving at a local youth group along with speaking in different schools to students and athletes. I lead a monthly spinal cord injury support group and attend college. I will earn my bachelors degree in Rehabilitation Services next May. I also plan to attain my Masters in counseling, open up my own clinic, and pursue a career as a life coach and motivational speaker. Adding to my schedule, I'm also an ambassador for the United Way here in Tulsa. This requires travel for meetings and different speaking events. 

My goal is to impact as many lives as I can with the life God has blessed me with! Too effectively do that, I need a viable mode of transportation get around. Earlier this year I entered a nationwide local hero contest to win a handicap accessible vehicle. I made it as far as the semi-finals but I wasn't chosen as a finalist. One thing I know is that God always has a plan! The video below was my contest entry. After so much support in the contest, I'm now hoping to raise 25-30K to purchase my own vehicle, which will be equipped for me to drive! (I got my license in June!).

To reach my goals and accomplish my dreams, getting this vehicle is huge! Just try to imagine what it is like to not have a car..........and now imagine not being able to ride in one either.
