Elise Shadinger is the sweetest, most joyful 3 year old. She also has been diagnosed with an incredibly rare genetic disease. A disease called Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. (AHUS)  There are roughly only 300 cases in the United States. There is currently only one treatment available and it's the most expensive drug on the market. A miracle drug called "Soliris."  

Elise and her parents have currently been in the hospital for 12 days watching their daughter fight for her life, praying the drug is accepted by her body. Should her body respond, Elise will get this drug intravenously at the hospital, every two weeks, for the rest of her life. They are currently at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. The disease causes kidney failure and destruction to the red blood cells entering into the kidneys . This miracle drug blocks the "cascade complex" that causes this attack. The annual estimated cost of this drug is over $400,000 a year.  

Though they are blessed to have insurance to cover the cost of the drug, their ongoing hospital stay and multiple blood transfusions will still be costly.
