Raising Money for an Accessible Van

For the last 13 years Steve ''Short Bus'' Krause has been a staple in the AZ comedy scene. A regular at the Tempe Improv and Stand Up Live he has had the opportunity to work with the greats such as Russell Peters, Pablo Francisco, Carlos Mencia, Robert Schimmell and many more! In 2016 he was "runner up" in AZ Funniest Comedian contest which is ironic because he hadn't run a day in his life! He is a regular guest on Holmberg Morning Sickness and gained National media attention when he got out of his wheelchair and climbed the famous "Rocky Steps" in Philadelphia only using his neck and back. If you ask him what his greatest achievement has been he'd be quick to tell you that it was the birth of his first child a beautiful baby girl. Yes.,. It works! This whole time Steve has also been working a full time job to provide for his family of four. However, in July of last year his world was turned upside down. Steve has to rely on public transportation to get to and from work everyday. The new ride sharing program the state implemented has turned a 30 minute ride into 2+ hours. He has been stranded for over 3 hours and everyday he is late means he is not able to provide for his family. He commutes 4 hours a day and that is if they are on time. Usually it's much longer! On February 5th Steve was traveling home in one of Transdev "cut away" buses when the drivers personal cell phone started ringing. Instead of paying attention to the rush hour traffic in front of him he started looking for his phone. I think you know what happened next!?!?! Steve has suffered 2 severe and permanent neck injuries which will require him to have surgery. He already has been out of work since and there is no timetable on his return which means financially he is struggling to support his fiancee Kelly, step kids Gabe Owen Sophia and their baby Sadie. So not only is he missing work now they are paying out of pocket for bills and transportation. The last thing he wants people to think of him is that he is a charity case. He feels bad when people open a door for him let alone ask for money.  The proceeds of this show will go to helping Steve get a wheelchair accessible van so he can have reliable transportation to get to where he needs to go and be able to do something as simple as taking his daughter to the zoo. He's faced many obstacles in his life but this has been one of the toughest but he won't give up!
