Buy a lung - save a life!
Since a terrible sickness in 1987, Diane Kilby (Mom) has lived with one lung. In recent years, she's become unable to continue her work as a home care nurse and she has carried an oxygen bottle as her remaining lung continues to wear down. Her quality of life has diminished to the point where she rarely has the energy to leave her apartment.
Her remaining lung is giving up, but she isn't.
In the past few weeks, Diane has completed the necessary tests and will very soon be on the transplant list in her hometown of San Antonio.
Much of this expensive process will be covered through insurance, though we've been told to expect a minimum of $5,000 in out-of-pocket expenses. While some of these costs might be recovered months down the road, the money must be there up front (and we don't have it). We also anticipate further costs we can't even see at this point.
Diane is a mother, sister, grandmother, friend and, above all, caretaker for the world's most co-dependent chihuahua.
We need your help. No donation is too small.
Mom's goal when she recovers is to once again play tennis, something she hasn't played in decades.
In a few months when you see pictures of her swinging a racket, you can know you played a part in that happy day.
Thank you,
