Dennis And Diane Moodie Fund

It would be easy to find those that have been touched by the angels that are Dennis and Diane Moodie. They have spent their lives in service to others, now they need our help. Dennis (my dad) was a police officer, and a dang good one at that. He had a big heart, knew when to show mercy, and when to stand ground. He knew it was a matter of connecting with the community as well as upholding the law. I think that was why he became a Santa, to make sure that those he saw on the job had something to feel good about in life, to feel loved. He taught all four boys (my brothers and me) how to be human beings, to think beyond ourselves and to share. We never had much, but we sure had much to give through service to others. I didn’t know we were as poor as we were until a conversation I had with my father well into my 30’s. My parents struggled but never let us (kids or anyone really) know it, all the while giving of their time, talents, and even their home later in life, to help others. Diane (my mom) was and still is the first to jump at the opportunity to cook, clean, babysit, or teach. She is incapable of sitting still for a moment to take time for herself. I think that it’s her way of keeping her own personal woes at bay. Again, teaching us boys to think beyond ourselves and to use our talents to benefit society. Both have had their health issues. Mom has had knee surgery and a tumor that grows on her optic nerve. Dad has been a trooper and lived in pain nearly all of my life. He had broken his back while on the job in my youth and has had numerous complications, all the while making sure we were cared for. They have continued to help their sons, community, church, and extended family regardless is their own circumstances. Now they are in dire need of help. Dennis has been admitted to hospital for numerous complications from diabetes, liver failure (from the plethora of medications over the years) and many other issues that need to be reined in. He is barely able to walk at this point and often is screaming in constant pain in his legs (diabetes and lingering spinal issues). Due to the hand that life has dealt, they are about to loose their home. If you know Diane and Dennis at all, this has been a haven, a safe place for all in the community. All have been welcome there, and many have benefitted from their generosity; their door has never been locked to anyone. This fund is set up to help pay back Dennis and Diane Moodie for the years of service, dedication, Love, and tender kindness they have given over the years. They will have to leave the home, dad can’t take the stairs any more, but at least we can help get them a new one. If you can find it in your heart, please help Dennis and Diane to pay off some of their accumulated medical debts and find a new place to call home.

Dad has passed away.  This campaign will remain open to assist my mother with the bills that remain.  It is not nearly enough to cover all that is needed, but will help cover funeral costs and interum costs related to medical and financial struggles.
