Get Denise Kampstra a new HEART!

Any amount you donate, even if it as little as $5-10, can make a big impact as Denise recovers. Help spread the word! Please donate now if you can!

Denise had her SWAN removed on 4.12.18!

Wondering what that it is!?!

It is a step in the right direction! It is a thin tube (catheter) into the right side of the heart and the arteries leading to the lungs. It is done to monitor the heart’s function and blood flow and pressures in and around her heart. They are also in the process of transitioning her from a medicated oxygen mask to a regular oxygen mask. She is working hard to be healthy again! They also have had her on dialysis to assist her body in flushing all of the excess water that had built up from her poor heart function. Still not up and walking around but she will hopefully be getting there soon! She will have a long road of rehabilitation ahead of her and any support you can give would be greatly appreciated!
Please help her NOW if you can by sharing this post, donating and praying for her!

Denise had her LVAD surgery on 4.4.2018.

She is still in a great deal of pain but working hard to get back to the basic functions we all take for granted. She has a long way to go so please keep her in your prayers.

Denise lives in Camden, TN approximately 100 miles from her medical team at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She will be required to stay within 30 miles of the hospital for 2 months once she is released from the hospital. This requirement is to ensure that the LVAD is working properly and she is healthy enough to be at home beyond the immediate reach of her medical team.

Denise's road to full recovery is going to be a long one and we hope to ease her and her family's minds by lessening the financial worry of how basic needs such as; medication, bandages, transportation and living expenses will be afforded.

Any amount you donate, even if it as little as $5-10, can make a big impact as Denise recovers. Please donate now if you can!

April 3.2018
My daughter Denise was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy at 47. The virus that was originally thought to be pneumonia turned out to be a virus that attacked her heart and caused heart failure.

Denise has lived with this heart failure for several years now. She was managing it with medications until last December when she suffered a heart attack and they found a blood clot behind her heart. She has continued to suffer from heart failure and was hospitalized again in March. Denise is a beautiful, brave and strong woman but she has spent countless nights feeling awful, unable to breathe and scared of what may happen next. Our family has spent countless hours sitting in hospital rooms and the cardiac intensive care unit wondering how this could all be real. Last January, the doctors started seriously talking about a LVAD and/or heart transplant surgery for Denise because her heart function was continuing to deteriorate. Multiple hospital admissions later and today time has run out and Denise is in need of a new heart to save her life. Denise has relocated to Nashville for open heart LVAD surgery which will allow her to stay alive while she waits for the opportunity to receive a heart transplant in the future. The doctors have planned to do open heart surgery to place Denise’s LVAD on April 4, 2018.

The money we raise here will help support Denise during the recovery period which could be up to a year or more from now. Unfortunately, many of the costs associated with the surgery are not fully covered by insurance including; out of scope medical costs, living expenses, the cost of relocating and the 24/7 care that she will need to recover from the LVAD surgery. Denise has been very ill and the financial stress is taking its toll on her and her family - she needs your help now.

Any amount you can donate would mean the world to all of us. We also ask for your prayers and to consider becoming an organ donor.
