David Adams Accident Fund

Donation protected

Dave and wife,  Holly (Krizek) had gone out to Boston on Friday, October 21st, 2016 with friends from his work for a long weekend.  He had been texting Saturday night around 10pm about the Cubs winning and was so excited.  Those who know Dave, he is a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan. Around 11:00pm Saturday night, Holly called Dave's Dad and said he had an accident.  We don’t have the particulars on that…he either fell or jumped into a pool and hit his head.  He has a big gash on his head.  Dave was conscious but couldn’t feel his extremities. He was taken to Boston Mass General Hospital.  (Tom and Linda Adams, Dave's parents, flew out first thing Sunday morning and arrived in Boston about 1:30pm.  Holly’s mom and aunt also flew out and are there now).

Dave had a CT scan first that didn’t show brain damage.  He then had an MRI which showed major spinal damage.  He went into surgery Sunday about noon and around 4:30 he was out.  The doctors said the surgery went well and his blood pressure stayed down, which they were concerned about.  He broke c-3 and c-4 in his spine, which are up close to the base of the skull, and then had a c-3 fissure fracture.  He also severed his vertebral artery.  Post-op, they were able to remove the ventilator and David was able to converse a bit (even mentioning he will "kick ass to walk again!").  Today (Monday) he’s been sleepy and the medical team suspected additional bleeding/swelling of the brain.  So Monday evening he had more surgery to relieve the pressure.  As of now, it really remains to be seen yet what his prognosis is.

As friends and classmates of Dave (also known as Redman, RD, Davey, HeMan), we are setting up this GoFundMe site to help with family expenses along with any medical expenses. We have confirmed with the family that this is ok.  All money will be given to Dave's family so they can use it as they see fit. Holly, Tom and Linda are looking for long-term housing in Boston so they can be there for Dave.

Possitive thoughts and prayers are the #1 need right now. Dave is fit, healthy and young. Those characteristics will help him in this very long road to recovery.

#2, Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Please skip your morning coffee and put that $5 towards helping Dave and his family. He has a HUGE heart. If tables were turned, he would step up and and help any of us.
