Dani's battle against 2nd cancer

on 12/12/14 Danielle was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia . She has been fighting cancer and in treatment for over two years, her last day of chemo was scheduled for March 20, 2017, on 2/28/17 she was diagnosed with a second form of cancer trying to form. Now her battle is extended for much longer she will now have to have a bone marrow transplant to fight this second cancer. No child/teen should have to fight for their life against cancer and definitely not twice!!!.
3/1/17 update: Danielle is doing amazing her spirits are strong, trust me we all UGLY CRIED, in our own ways, when we got the news yesterday but she beat A.L.L. And we know she will take on AML no differently she is strong, she is powerful, truly an amazing princess superhero!!!!!
Today I bargained with our other hero Dr Bhatla, we both came to the conclusion Danielle needs time to gain her strength and get to the top of her game before she is ready to battle this next adventure. So she agreed to let me bring her home tomorrow, on IVs and antibiotics. Let her get some quality family time in her siblings all 9 of them miss having her around with so many hospitalizations from infections. We are so excited to get her home for a while!!!!!!
But it all comes at a cost, so here is the tentative attack schedule:
She has to go into the clinic at Cardinal Glennon 2x a week for lab draws, and platelet/blood transfusions. (160 miles round trip)
Matthew is currently in process of getting what is needed together on his end blood work for testing (takes 2 weeks to process) and getting cleared by a physician on his military base.
She will remain on antibiotics at home for AT LEAST 2 more weeks
We will repeat her bone marrow biopsy after the antibiotics are complete to see what the MDS is doing if it converts to AML we will rush the bone marrow transplant if it's stable we will repeat biopsy in 2-4 weeks.
We NEED her body and mind strong, for transplant
Optimally we want to give her body 2-3 months to recoup if the MDS will let us, then we will proceed with the transplant
Just before, during, and after the transplant we can expect her to be on very restrict isolation in the hospital for 6-12 weeks. Timeframe depends on how well her body rebuilds after transplant and complications.
Then at least at year of anti rejection drugs after transplant.
Another long road, probably a few bumps but we will succeed!!!
