Daniel Mena- Trip of a Lifetime

Dear Friends,

My name is Daniel Mena. I am an 8th grade student at Johnson Middle School and I am hoping you can help me. I have an opportunity to go on a "trip of a lifetime" to Washington DC and New York with my school peers. However, I was born with Spina Bifida Hydrocephaly and I am unable to walk but I can get around in my wheel chair. I am scheduled to have high risk surgery on my back, neck and hips but the doctors have delayed the surgery so I can go on this trip and learn more about our nation's history. Many people are helping me with the accommodations necessary to go on this trip. I am working very hard at fundraising with the help of my entire family. My parents are low income and are trying their best to help me. The cost for me going is very expensive ($5000) because I have to have a provider help and assist me on the trip. I would be very appreciative if you could help me go on this trip, it would be a dream come true. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
