Hello everyone, we, as the DONT WALK committee, are fundraising this summer directly for our two chosen charities, FHI 360 and Comic Relief, in honour of DONT WALK's 17th Birthday! We hope you'll join us in our effort to support these two amazing charities.
FHI 360 (Family Health International), founded in 1971, is an international non-profit working to improve the health and well-being of people around the world. FHI 360 works closely with governments and private organisations to create jobs, educate children, provide life-saving health care and bring about positive social change. They do so by using research and evidence to design and deliver programmes that re-educate destructive behaviours and increase access to services in order to improve lives and mitigate violence. Their staff is comprised of more than 4,000 professionals working in more than 60 countries around the world. With diverse technical expertise and deep understanding of local conditions providing a '360-degree perspective', they are able to develop customised responses to some of the most difficult human development challenges. It is for these reasons that DONT WALK is extremely excited about this new partnership.
DONT WALK is equally thrilled to be partnering with the British charity, Comic Relief. Established by comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry in 1985, Comic Relief’s vision is far from a joke. They have devoutly pursued a just world, one totally free from the constraints of poverty, through huge public fundraisers (such as Red Nose Day) and committed volunteer work (as displayed on their Relief television special). Since its inception, Comic Relief has raised over £1 billion with the help of celebrities such as Daniel Craig, David Beckham and Kate Moss. Whether it be on our noses or out in the streets, Comic Relief is a charity well acquainted with St Andrews and it is our pleasure to be partnering with them.
