Rocket's Vets Bills and Recovery

Donation protected

THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to click through to our fundraiser. We desperately need your help!

We have had our lovely little boy 'Rocket' in our care for just under 5 years...

We rescued him from Romania after he was so badly beaten by his owners, that they broke his back and left him without the use of his back legs. We took him into our care after an emergency operation to fix his back and after a shaky and timid start, and despite his horrific early introduction to human beings, he has blossomed into a gorgeous and affectionate little dog. He has a best friend 'Dee Dee' one of our other paraplegic dogs, who through constant playing and messing about, has helped him not only come out of his shell, but also gain strength in his back legs enough to allow him to walk on them again.
See more of Rocket's Story here...

Until recently he has been a very happy and healthy dog with us, and has been enjoying life to the full. Sadly though, he is now undergoing tests on a troublesome lump that has appeared on his bottom He has had an aspiration of the lump and is having a series of other tests to see what may have caused the lump to appear/grow. The hope is that the lump is benign and there is nothing more sinister to worry about. However either way, the fairly sizeable lump (like a golf ball) needs to be removed, as it has attached itself to an area where it's causing pressure and potential strangulation of his anal gland (doesn't sound too comfortable does it!!)

Sadly this is where the problem starts. We like many other charitable organisations through Covid have had our fundraising badly effected, and we are barely scraping by to feed and care for the 15 disabled and terminally ill dogs in our care. The vets bills for Rocket are going to...well 'sky rocket' and current estimates with tests and surgery are around the £1800 area (current estimates shown below), without follow up, after care visits included. Should Rockets prognosis be more concerning then this is going to go up even further and we simply don't have the funds to cover it.

The vets have said we have about 4 weeks before Rocket needs to go in for his surgery which means we only have 4 weeks to raise the money needed to cover the bills. Sadly the vets have said they aren't in a position to defer the payments, so we have to pay in full at the time of the operation or it can't go ahead.

If you are able to help us in anyway, no matter how small, we would be so grateful and we will be able to get Rocket the surgery and treatment he needs. Thank you, truly from the bottom of our hearts and from the dogs too....

We will also be fundraising in other ways too, so please follow our Facebook page where you will see news on raffles and events, that we and friends of the charity will be organising to help Rocket and the other dogs in our care...

The Dogs Nobody Wants Sanctuary
'The DNWS was set up to give a home to those dogs with issues that some people may be unable or unwilling to deal with. It is a happy place where our dogs can live out their lives peacefully and comfortably. The dogs range in all ages and sizes and all have different levels of disability, some are paralysed, some have amputations, some have sight or hearing problems and some are just in their senior years.

The sanctuary started when we took in our first paraplegic dog Leah. Despite being paralysed, she was able to run around on her wheels with a great big smile on her face. When word started to spread that we had a disabled dog, we started to get more and more requests to take more dogs into our care and that’s how we ended up where we are now, with 15 happy and fulfilled dogs, who otherwise might have been euthanised.'
