The tiny nation of Bhutan, nestled high in the eastern Himalayas, prioritises the health, wellbeing and spirituality of its people by using a ‘Gross National Happiness Index’ to measure sustainable development.
Blackmores Group Asia MD, Peter Osborne, and his wife Sherry have long supported a remote community practicing one of the oldest forms of Buddhism, the Dorji Lingpa lineage.
Inspired by the monks' tireless giving back, Peter and Sherry have helped build a primary school, roads and transportation, a retirement home for elderly monks, a meditation centre, and ongoing renovations to the main temple which is over 600 years old.
“One of the most inspiring and fascinating things about Buddhist monks is that their sole purpose in life is to help others, reduce suffering and spread compassion,” Peter explains. “I have never met humans with purer souls than these monks in Bhutan.”
