DINNER WITH THE PARKES' FUNDRAISER

As many of you know, in May of 2011, Allen was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Stage IV brain cancer called a Glioblastoma. Since his diagnosis, Allen has endured numerous obstacles, so many that I probably could not list them all, even if I tried. What I have witnessed beside him in his journey is his relentless courage and that he refuses to allow this "cancer" to defeat him or his family. Allen has taught me that difficulties in life just maybe are meant to awaken us, not discourage us. As a very close friend of Allen's, I'm always asking myself how do I give back? How do my actions show I am supporting him and his family 100% of the time no matter what? Then, I came across this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that is simple but summed it up. " The only way to have a friend, is to be one." Because I want my actions to reflect this quote, I am reminded often of my responsibility as Allen's friend to honor our friendship and give back to him and my community whenever possible. That is why I am hoping that all of you will join me in my plight to raise money for Allen and his family. Between medical costs, insurance costs and day to day living, they are certainly having a hard time meeting their financial responsibilities. So I decided to throw together a "DINNER WITH THE PARKES' FUNDRAISER." Please see all the information listed below. This event is really an opportunity for all of us to celebrate Allen's progress, his spirit and his commitment in fighting this disease. If you are unable to make this event, we will certainly miss you, however feel free to donate as much or as little as you can. My personal goal is to raise as much money as possible for this family. Use this link to spread the word, via Facebook, Twitter or any other social media outlet. It is a great way to fund-raise and also reach individuals globally about Glioblastoma and Allen's story.
