Help DACA Recipient Afford Lawyer

Donation protected
From Gonzalo Lopez:

On September 5th, 2017 President Trump and the White House have decided to rescind the program DACA, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. This program has allowed an estimated 800,000 children a chance for a temporary status to work and go to school in the United States legally. I, Gonzalo Lopez, am one of the 800,000 people who are protected by DACA.

I came to the United States when I was just three years old. Since then, I have been an active and contributing citizen. I have graduated high school at the top of my class, I have earned my Associates Degree from my local community college and now I attend a four year university, working on my Bachelors/Masters degree in Child Life. Like many other Dreamers, I have benefited from being under DACA by being given the chance to obtain my American Dream.

The US is all I know. My entire life is here. I have a husband and two dogs. Together we have worked hard to earn what we have. Due to my legal status, I do not qualify for federal aide. People think that just because I am married to a citizen, means I’m automatically one as well. That is far from the truth. The pathway to citizenship is not guaranteed with DACA, nor is it a fast or cheap process. Today’s news has frightened me to my core. Not knowing what the future holds for me is terrifying. The thought of my dreams and family being taken away from me is gut-wrenching.

Please help and donate anything you can to assist myself in being able to afford a lawyer. With the sudden change in the existence of DACA, legal forms, as well as lawyer fees, things can get expensive quickly.

My American Dream isn’t ending. Living in the US for the past 20 years has taught me that to get what I want, I must earn and fight for it. Despite DACA ending, I will continue to do my part as an American. I will work harder, study harder, and the be the best I can be.

If you are unable to donate, please raise awareness and support the Dreamers that make American great.
