Living Expenses While Maya Recovers

Donation protected
Sweet baby Maya was born Sunday, May 25, 2014 and her arrival brought much joy. However, when Maya was only 2 days old, she was found to have a heart murmur and transferred to the Kaiser in Walnut Creek, CA for further testing. Upon testing, Maya was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect that will require open-heart surgery. She has been transferred to the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford (Sunday, June 1st) where she will continue to be monitored and prepped for her operation to take place Friday, June 6th.

Her parents are grateful to have the support of friends and family through this difficult time, but need some help with covering the expenses they will incurr during Mayas surgery and recovery at LPCH.

Both parents are veterans who had been attending school on their GI Bills. Now that they are done with school for the year, they had plans to have their baby and move mid-summer to be closer to family. As a result, they are not currently employed. While this gives them lots of time to spend with Maya while she is in NICU, it is a great stress on their finances.

In addition, both of their vehicles were wrecked in accidents at the start of the month and they have been using a rental car.

Maya will need to be in the NICU at LPCH for at least three weeks, and up to eight weeks. Traveling between their home (in Fairfield, CA) and LPCH would not only be expensive and time consuming, but it would also be difficult for mama who is recovering from the emergency C-section she had when Maya was born and adverse reactions to the anesthetic that was used.

After Maya is released from the hospital, she will be requiring additional recovery time in home as well. Because of this, plans to move have been delayed for an indefinite amount of time and all regular costs of living will still need to be payed for.

For all these reasons, the family is asking for any financial assistance that can be provided to help with their expenses for food and lodging so that they can remain close to their daughter in the coming weeks.

Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers and thank you to anyone who is able and chooses to make a donation to help.
