In January of 2015, 16 yr old Jordan noticed a lump in his armpit. After three months of searching, he was diagnosed with a metastatic sarcoma that April. Treatment began immediately, and included more than 15 months of chemo, 12 weeks of radiation, and more surgeries, scans, biopsies, and emergency hospital stays than I can remember. He finished treatment in August of 2016.
In August of 2017, less than 1 week from starting at the University of Nebraska on full academic scholarship, the cancer recurred in his pancreas. Jordan underwent a 10 hour surgery to remove the mass and do some reconstructive work as the result of the removal of part of his pancreas, gall bladder and intestines. We restarted chemo after a lengthy recovery from the surgery, but less than halfway through the prescribed treatment plan, his body was not responding well. While there was no detectable disease, he still was not able to fully receive the prescribed course, thus treatment stopped earlier this year.
This past May, Jordan was diagnosed with treatment induced AML (leukemia) as the result of years of chemo and radiation. We began treatment immediately with the hopes of getting him to remission so that a bone marrow transplant could take place (big sis Gabrielle is his match.) Unfortunately, Jordan's original cancer has returned, and no conventional treatment remains. Right now, dad is home full time taking care of Jordan and the family.
Jordan has been battling cancer for 20% of his life. This has been a rough road, but we are so thankful for the prayers and support from so many friends and family. We don't know what the future holds, but we're certainly grateful to serve the very One who holds the future. Please keep praying for us!
All Donations are being directly sent to the bank account of Jordan's folks, Tony and Angie Ways.
