Greetings!
My name is Elder Deborah A. Corley; and I am the founder of Destiny, Power & Purpose, Inc. (DPP)
DPP's mission is to help individuals to break the vicious cycle of repeated drug addiction and incarceration off their lives through empowerment. DPP is a nonprofit (501c3) faith-based organization; and the community outreach entity of the Soul Saving Center of Christ, Inc.
DPP is primarily focused on providing high-quality recovery & reentry support services; and a continuum of care to individuals that find it difficult to make a change in habits and behaviors that continuously lead to the use of drugs, alcohol and/or incarceration.
Since my own deliverance from a lifestyle of drug addiction and alcoholism over twenty-three years ago, it has been a natural part of me to assist and provide support to individuals who have the same addictions. Over the last eighteen years, I have dedicated myself and volunteered my time to assist individuals through the process of recovery. My desire has been to help individuals to know who they are; to believe in themselves beyond their addictions and problems; and to understand that they have a purpose in life. Believe it or not, there are people who seem to get stuck in repeated cycles of drug usage and incarceration simply because they have no idea who they are or any sense of direction for their lives. They have no sense of self-worth, no idea that they can live a better way of life; and most of all, no idea that they have the ability to accomplish anything they want in life. I know, I felt the same way about myself and my life!
DPP currently provides Care Coordination (Case Management) and Recovery Support Services to Prince Georges County residents who have returned to the communities and surrounding areas from treatment; and/or are currently engaged in Intensive outpatient/outpatient treatment/mental health services. Over the last four years, DPP has serviced and supported nearly 1,422 clients on their journey to recovery. While we assist the clients with some State funds; County, Community and Faith based resources and referrals, the population we serve still have a great need for support through direct assistance such as housing, transportation, vital documents, toiletries and personal wear. The tremendous lack of funds for these direct services create barriers to the client's success in maintaining abstinence from the use of alcohol and other mind altering substances. This is why your donation is greatly needed!!!
Any funds that are donated through this campaign will be used to assist individuals with the following Recovery Support Services:
Housing Assistance - will provide up to 30 days of safe and stable housing assistance to clients who have no place to go upon their release .
Transportation Assistance - will provide monthly smartrip cards to assist the client with travel to/from outpatient treatment, mental health and medical appointments; as well as to educational and job seeking opportunities.
Vital Documents Assistance - will provide money orders that can be used to obtain a State ID, Drivers License or Birth Certificates.
Toiletries - will assist the client with obtaining items pertinent to maintaining their personal hygiene upon release from the treatment facitlity or jail.
Undergarments - will the assist the client with obtaining undergarments (bras, tee shirts, underwear, socks) upon release from the treatment facility or jail.
