Back in April, this race came to me as a crazy idea. Merely that - a flickering thought, which seemed unrealistic and unattainable - scheduled for a far away date that I would probably find a "convenient" reason to drop out of.

But weirdly enough, motivations and commitments stemmed from an unexpected source - my older sister Cait who teaches 4th Grade at Girls Prep in the Lower East Side Manhattan. She tells me all the time about the kids she teaches and how they are doing.

But as you can imagine, this has been an unbelievably tough year for her and her classroom - With funds, resources and extracurriculars being reduced and even terminated -  teachers are being overworked and under resourced - trying to help many students who are falling behind their daily goals more and more each day.

She even mentioned that many kids don't have access to remote learning, in the city and across the country - essentially wiping out their chance of having an education this year.

These conversations have really stuck with me and thinking about it rips me up way more than my 40 mile runs do - cause everyday matters for a young kid's development – and it seems like we've already lost too many days.

At the end of the day, I don’t know much about the world or solving complex problems within it - but I know raising a child shouldn't just be on the teachers, the parents or politicians - but rather a collective effort.

And realistically all the miles ran can't even compare to the wonders done by my sister and other educators in the classroom.

I know it’s silly & I know it’s insane, but I’d love your help HERE or in YOUR OWN LOCAL COMMUNITY to help support students and educators -

Thank you - let's get after it
