Help! Matthew Clark is very sick and his family of five needs our support.Guillain-Barré Syndrome
Thursday June 8th Matt was admitted to Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was seen in the ER for numbness in his hands, feet and mouth. As the night progressed he quickly experienced severe neck pain and lost the ability to manage his body and muscles.
Unfortunately, within two days Matthew was unable to walk, use his hands, lift his own head, or even communicate with his wife Vicki Clark. The decision was made to move Matt to Ohio State Medical Center where he could receive more aggressive testing and care as all test results were coming back normal but Matthew was clearly getting worse by the hour. At this point Matt is still in the hospital on the OSU Medical campus but was moved once again this morning to the Brain and Spinal Hospital within the Ohio State Campus due to a believed stroke. The treatment Matt is receiving is for a rare condition called Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) that is treatable with therapy and extensive care.
Matthew was fortunate enough to land a great job at Honda ten months ago. However, due to his time there being less than one year his sick time, vacation time and benefit package is limited. Vicki is an amazing stay home mom to their four beautiful children under the age of ten and both now fear for financial struggle during this hard time. As you can imagine Vicki being away from her four young children, commuting to/from hospital 40 minutes away, sleeping at the hospital with her husband and managing the unknown stresses that are to come is extremely overwhelming! Please help us make this time as easy as possible on their entire network of family and friends!
