Cindy's Cancer Support

When my Mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer it was a total shock. She is the most active and health-conscious person I know. In addition, she has anal cancer, which is not only quite rare, but also really hard to talk about.

She is currently undergoing two courses of chemotherapy in addition to daily radiation and the treatment is taking its toll. Reluctantly, she is beginning to realize that she no longer has the energy to work enough to manage her finances, much less homeschool my younger sister, Sofia.

Medical insurance is not what it appears to be. There are co-payments, deductibles and co-insurance costs and this has definitely been an area of much stress for her. 

Even after she has completed the treatment it will be months before she can fully support her family again.

This fund is a small gift that I am giving to her. In no way will it cover all of the expenses associated with this disease, but it is not intended to. It is simply financial hope. Hope that she needs so that she can focus on a more important feat... survival.

There are moments in all our lives when circumstances beyond our control diminish our independence and we have no choice but to ask for help. In these humbling, turbulent and unexpected times all we have is each other. 

As someone who has helped improve the well-being of many in the community through her health and fitness profession I hope you will rally behind her in support of the long and difficult recovery ahead.
