Christy's Angels

Christy Jewell was first diagnosed in March of 2009, at the age of 37, with an aggressive form of stage 3 breast cancer. She stood up to her disease and went through 16 rounds of chemo, a bilateral mastectomy, 30 rounds of radiation, many hospital stays and multiple reconstruction surgeries (that continue to this day) and NEVER lost the smile on her face! Christy beat that cancer in 2009 and did it with an unbelievable positive spirit!

Unfortunately her remission did not last long. In September of 2012, Christy was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that spread to her liver. An inoperable cancer that was being fought with the success of chemotherapy (which she has to take for the rest of her life). Even with that type of diagnosis, Christy did not let it dampen her spirit! She's faced it with the same positivity and strength (even a good sense of humor) as the last time around! She believes that your mental state is over half the battle!! Christy takes this belief and faces her cancer head-on, without any self pity or a "why me" attitude! Her optimistic determination to beat this once again is beyond admirable but nothing less than expected from Christy. If you know her, then you know that positive, optimistic and genuine character that we all love about her! These attributes are what creates her strength and "can-do" determination in the middle of all this adversity!

Unfortunately, she now faces this battle for a third time. After suffering a full seizure this past February, she has recently learned that the cancer has spread to hear brain. She continues to persevere and fight this in same way she has the last 2 times! She wants to show this cancer who's boss!! Christy has already undergone 18 full brain radiation treatments along with adding new chemo drugs and anti seizure meds to her daily routine. The next step is a possible Gamma Knife procedure if the tumors did not shrink enough during the radiation treatments.

The unavoidable devastation that this has brought to Christy and those who love her is more overwhelming than words can say. Christy's family and friends have surrounded her with much love and support and are willing to join her in whatever it takes to beat this once and for all!! Sadly though, cancer is an expensive battle. Although Christy is on disability during chemo and can handle her normal day to day expenses, there are many out-of-pocket medical costs. That will continue for the rest of Christy's life. Not to mention unexpected costs from medical scans, prescriptions, lab tests, out-of-network expenses, specialists, possible surgeries, hospital stays, etc.

Christy's loved ones want to help her focus on her health and not her medical bills. As you can imagine this is going to take a village of caring, loving and giving people. And that's where you can make a difference with Christy's battle! Please consider a donation, no amount is too small, it all adds up!! And share this link with EVERYONE you know! Help us spread the word!!

(We apologize but the funds will not qualify as a tax write off.)

With great appreciation, love and good health to all of you!!
