We all have trials and tribulations. We all do our best to make
it through life day by day. I am no different. That is why I'm reaching out for your support at this time. I'm fighting for my gift of life.
In 2002, I lost my partner of 10 years to cancer only to be diagnosed in 2005 with cancer myself.... Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia to be more precise. CLL is the most common leukemia found in adults. However, it is mostly found in males over 50. Being diagnosed as a female at age 38 is a rarity. After coming to terms with what life had dealt me, I decided to do all I could on my part to take care of myself. I researched my disease and created what I like to call my 'unit' to manage my lifelong plan of surviving this disease (or what I like to call a health challenge). A combination of caring physicians, chemotherapy, healthy food, supplements, physical exercise, mental awareness and lots of love from friends and family have been my choice of life for many years now. In 2008, I had my first round of chemotherapy. My body responded favorably, and I have been doing well for 5 years now. My health challenge can be maintained for MANY years with a reliable 'unit'. However, my doctor has informed me that the time has come for another round of chemotherapy.
My name is Christie George and I am a 46 year old single woman who is self employed and living with my 2 dogs, Tobi & Remington. They've helped me through some of the most challenging moments in my life. Unfortunately, I've reached a point in my health challenge that I need more help. My treatment will last for approximately 6 months. I would love to keep working during treatment, and will continue to do so if at all possible. However, during my last round of chemotherapy I was unable to work. This makes it extremely difficult to pay for medical (not covered by insurance) and basic living expenses.
As hard as it is for me, I am now asking you for your help. I've reached a point in my life where I need do what's best for me and my family. Any donation will be helpful and positive thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
