Christopher Kennedy is a strong and courageous warrior, a young man of great faith, and an inspiration to all who know and love him. As a Senior at Kilgore High School, in Kilgore, TX six years ago, Chris was diagnosed with blood/immune disorders (ITP and Aplastic Anemia) that caused him to be hospitalized for much of that monumental year of school. He has been in and out of the hospital numerous times since, and recently his condition deteriorated to the point that he was in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. Thankfully, after much hope and prayer, a donor for Chris was finally found. Chris received a bone marrow transplant on March 27, 2018, and he got a second chance at life!
Chris' recovery over the past few days has been good so far, but he is still in the hospital healing and undergoing chemo. He is not sure how long he will be there, but as you can imagine, after years of hospital and doctor visits, the medical expenses his family has incurred has added up. As a family friend, I asked Chris to let me help him by setting up this account so that his awesome friends, as well as generous givers all over the country, could show him some love and help ease his financial burden on him and his family. I will not have access to the fund donations, only Chris will.
Chris dearly loves the Lord, his family and friends, and his passion is baseball. In spite of his serious health challenges, he was able to secure a spot on the baseball teams at Bacone College in OK last year and Ottawa University in Kansas this year. After he recovers from the transplant, Chris plans to remain in Kansas and continue attending OU. His dream is to work in the area of baseball front office operations or become a baseball scout. He has a great personality, work ethic, and drive, and I know he will succeed at whatever career he chooses to pursue.
