Bring comfort to cancer patients

Tax deductible
How would you feel if you lost all your hair and had blisters in and all over your throat and mouth? I’ll have a guess, you would feel terrible and self conscious.

My cousin, Jessie is 13 years old and likes ice skating, gong on her trampoline, and a lot of other things she can’t do because of a horrible disease, cancer. Jessie liked doing crazy stuff outside and she never wanted to stay inside.

Jessie and her little sister, Jamie, live in Chicago and I live in California so  it is rare that I see her.  But when I do, it makes us all  really happy to see each other.  We are on the trampoline for hours, long enough that we get thirsty and tired. When Jessie, Jamie, and I go inside, five minutes later, Jessie wants to go out again. Now, she can't do any of her old daily activities.  She has to stay safe and free of germs.   She can’t even do her favorite thing of all time - ice skating.  She used to win 1st place at all of her competitions. Now she isn’t even allowed on the ice.

I call her everyday and every time we talk, we laugh, share stories and plan our next visit. My mom and I also send her presents.  I really want my cousin to get better from this horrible disease, banishing it from her body and the world. As time passes she seems to have gotten better.

When you get a present or package in the mail, doesn’t it feel great? At my religious school, CTJ, Chemocessories, a non profit helping cancer patients, visited us and had the kids in our class design a gift package filled with a turban, jewelry and a scarf. The founder of Chemocessories is  member of our temple and a cancer survivor. When she was going through treatment one of her daughters was my age. She wanted to stay positive during her treatment and she would put on jewelry, add a scarf and a turban, instead of wearing a wig. Now she does this for others. Chemocessories sends care packages like the ones we made to women going through cancer treatment. They have sent out over 4800 sets since they started doing this. They have also sent sets to every state.

This is my project for my Bat Mitzvah, each student in my class needs to do community service and help an organization, I picked Chemocessories. I hope you will go to my Go Fund Me page and help me raise money for Chemocessories.  They receive over 100 requests per months.  I am also helping to collect scarves and jewelry to put in each set. You can learn more about them at www.chemocessories.org  Their tax ID# is 47-2040242
