Heal Charlottesville Youth w/ books

Donación protegida
Like you I’ve been aggrieved by the turbulent and deadly assault on my hometown of Charlottesville by white supremacists.

But this isn’t just my town.

It belongs to all of us right now.

When a fellow Hollins University Children's Literature grad, Anne Ernst, a librarian at Charlottesville High School, asked for help,  a brain child was born.

A one-book campaign for local schools and public libraries in the greater Charlottesville area that will help bring the community together for healing and productive discussions.

As a children's book author and a teacher, I know first-hand that books really do heal.

The wonderful folks at Balzer & Bray/Harper Collins will be producing a special paperback version of the groundbreaking and inspirational young adult novel The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas, even though the paperback is not even out yet.

This very special OneBook program will be a summer reading program during the summer of 2018, and each book will feature a Charlottesville seal on the cover

$7000 will buy 3,000 books
$18,500 will buy 5,000 books
$33,000 will buy 10,000 books

Author Angie Thomas is on board and will do a Skype program.

This means that the Charlottesville area need mass quantities of books, and it’s up to us in the children’s book community and those who love books to help.

All donations are being held by The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, and we thank them for their support.

Please consider any amount to help bring healing. We can't wait on this!
