Healing Cendra's Broken Brain

I’ve never had to do anything like this before.  I need to seek crowd funding in order to heal my badly broken brain.  I suffered a concussion five years ago which was similar to the severe concussion I got 50 years before that.  The result has been a loss of many of my abilities needed to run a business, to be a successful researcher, and to do normal daily tasks.

Up until a couple years ago neurologists knew no way to help High Functioning people with this injury.  We were told to just live with it.  The GOOD NEWS is that some determined neuro-bio researchers have figured out how to retrain and heal this type of traumatic brain injury [TBI].   

The Bad News is no insurance covers this.  The few people who can do the assessments and treatments are the researchers themselves.  They have no funding.  They charge about the same as I and other mental health professionals: $150-350 per session plus supplies, such as glasses, lenses, cognitive manipulation tools.

 Until they assess me and see how I progress, no one can say how long the full treatment will take.  Their offices are in suburbs north of Chicago so I must fund the cost of travel and lodging.  They kindly offer to do as much as possible on line or by phone to keep my costs down.  An educated, hopefully high guess is $10,000. 

 I’ve practiced independence and self-reliance all my life.  I’ve believed I could heal from any injury with persistence and hard work.  I never foresaw my brain making this impossible.  I have no way to earn a sustainable living.
