*Update 10/25/2018

Thank you to everyone  for all of your support.  With your help, we have exceeded our intended target and have scheduled a Celebration of Life for Harry at his favorite Annapolis Restaurant, Lures Bar and Grill.  Please continue to contribute, as any funds not used for this event will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Harry's name.  These are both causes that Harry cared about deeply.

Please join us for food and drinks as we celebrate the life of Harry Harbin.

It is with great sadness that we mark the sudden and unexpected passing of Harry S. Harbin.  Harry was a dedicated runner, a lifelong Deadhead, a fan of all Pacific northwest sports teams and a highly respected attorney for the Department of Justice.  He is survived by his son, David.

Professionally, Harry touched hundreds of lives.  He was admired by his colleagues for his generosity, kindness and legal aptitude. He was known by his colleagues as "the smartest guy in the room" and his opinion was highly regarded.  Most recently, Harry served as the Senior Legal Counsel for the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section of the D.O.J.  The D.O.J. recently announced that Harry is the recipient of the 2018 Attorney General John Marshall Award for Participation in Litigation.  This is one of the highest honors bestowed on Department employees.

Harry was loved by many. In his free time, Harry could be found at home in Annapolis with his partner, Jeanie, and their yellow lab, Saffy Dawg.  Harry was recovering from a medical condition and had been slowly, but with great determination, working his way back to his life-long passion of running. Harry was a tremendous cook, a craft beer aficionado and an avid reader.

As news of Harry's passing spread, many have reached out to inquire about arrangements.  As Jeanie and her family would have wished, the estate will go to his son.  However, money has not been made available from the estate for a memorial or a funeral.  Jeanie and her family feel that, out of respect for Harry and his many friends and colleagues, it is important to honor and celebrate his life.

Your donation will be used to defray the costs of a Celebration of Life for Harry.  Dates and details are being arranged by Jeanie and her family and will be announced soon.    Any excess funds will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Harry's name.  These are both causes that Harry cared about deeply.

Harry deserves to be remembered and celebrated by those who loved and treasured him.  A donation helping us to remember and and celebrate Harry will be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you.
