HURRICANE HARVEY HIT OUR FAMILY

Hello Family and Friends,
THE SITUATION: I'm sure all of you have been following the tragic situation in Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey where many, many lives have been adversely disrupted. Among the people that find themselves in dire straights is a relative of ours, Cathy Jordan (Lawson) of Houston, Texas.
Cathy is the daughter of my brother, William Riser and sister of Regina, Ricky, Ralph, and Pam. Cathy was not “in the flooding area” of Houston herself, but---her daughter, Courtney Brooks’ family unfortunately was and has been totally flooded out. Courtney has a husband and two small children and their apartment home was flooded above the countertop level. They have lost most everything for themselves and their children.
THE BLESSING: As God would have it, Courtney and her husband, Jamar were cognizant enough to gather their two young children and find refuge in a hotel in Dallas BEFORE the storm took over the streets and their home. They’ve suffered a major loss, but….they are alive and WELL!
THE AFTERMATH: After several days of uncertainty, they arrived back to their home to find that their car was submerged in water for days….and is a total loss. Upon entering the apartment home, the realization that they no longer have a home, furniture, or belongings hit hard. They where living in a first floor apartment that was totally flooded.
After being forced to spend days sifting through and removing water-logged items from that dwelling - so that the apartment building renovations can start - they have begun temporarily living with Cathy, who herself was in the process of selling her Houston home and has removed most of her furniture, so they are all in a very hard place.
OUR PLEA: In this very difficult time, Paul Riser Jr. (Pooh) and Paula Riser have been in constant contact with all family members in the Houston area. Courtney’s family was the only one affected in this tragic way by Hurricane Harvey. Cathy’s other child, Derek, and his family are fine. In light of this situation, Paula and Paul Jr. assisted in setting up this safe and secure way that we, as friends and family, can give donations to help Courtney’s family. Cathy's daughters' family has salvaged very little in personal items. They’ve lost most of their clothing, all furnishings including beds, computers, home office, kids toys, and all their food.
In order to get back on their feet and to some sense of normalcy….they simply NEED OUR HELP!
IN CONCLUSION: This message is to let everyone know the circumstances of our loved ones in Houston.
We understand that EVERYONE has their own bills and challenges, but please ask yourself “If I were in this situation, who do I hope would step up for me and my family?” Your response would probably be “FAMILY and FRIENDS!”

Because the family has been totally displaced, the monies collected will be spent on finding a new home, replacement of furniture, clothing for 4, food, computers for work and school and a replacement car.
