Casey Michael's Heart Fund

My name is Shannan Casey and my 3 month old baby's name is Casey Michael Falcón. He was born with a heart defect and needed immediate surgery. After the surgery there were complications because Casey would not stop bleeding. He received a lot of blood and ultimately they had to reopen his chest and leave it open for a long time so his swelling could go down. They thought he would have to come home with a feeding tube, but miraculously he started eating on his own. They thought his vocal chords might be damaged, but miraculously they were not permanently damaged. Despite all obstacles he survived and was able to come home a month later. Unfortunately at his last checkup we found out his heart is not growing with his body, that his aorta is narrowing and he will need another surgery to make his aorta bigger. We will see the surgeon on November 11, 2013 to find out when the next and hopefully last surgery will be. Throughout all of this I have not been able to work. Raynel (Casey's father) has only been able to work occasionally between caring for our other two children and doctor's appointments. We are a family of five and have been told we do not qualify for food stamps, medicaid, or other financial support because with my income we were barely over the poverty level. Now that I cannot return to work just yet, we are behind on car payments, house payments, medical payments, and have very little money for food, gas, utilities or anything else. I never in a million years thought this would happen or could imagine the financial devastation in such a short time, but it has happened and we need help. I am starting this fund now because at this point our hospital bills alone are over $97,000 and we have another surgery ahead of us. We are facing a marathon that has just begun. Whereas I thought we were on the downside of this mountain, we have only just begun. Please share our story with anyone and everyone you think might want to help our family during this hard time.
