Carsun's Service Trip to Galapagos

Dear friends and family,
With the support that so many of you gave me, I took an incredible trip to Fiji last summer with Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) which changed my life entirely! For those that do not already know, GLA is a service-oriented volunteer program that takes place around the globe. GLA operates their volunteer programs in authentic, non-tourist communities, and through service work, high school students are given the opportunity to step up in a global context in partnership with the communities they serve and help make a profound impact. Each trip consists of different activities that take students outside their comfort zone and challenges them to experience new opportunities.
Out of the thirty-four different trips offered by GLA,, two strongly stood out to me--Fiji, which is where I went last summer, and the Galapagos Islands, which is where I would love to go this summer! Therefore, I am humbly asking for the honor of your support to be able to experience this amazing GLA service opportunity.
Here is a brief description of what I will be experiencing in the Galapagos as described by GLA:
“…On Isabela Island, our project is in partnership with a tortoise breeding center, where you'll see tortoises roaming around as you work to help them. On San Cristobal Island, you'll get your day started with a hike up a beautiful hill where we will clear invasive species on private and national park land to encourage tortoises and endemic birds to re-inhabit the land. Of the nine days you spend on the Galapagos Islands, six of those days will consist of animal volunteer work for teenagers like you to get your hands dirty. The other three days will focus on exploring the islands and learning about the biology and geology of the Galapagos archipelago.”
In order to make this trip a reality, I am seeking to raise $5000 which will cover all the costs (including the airfare) necessary for me to be able to go. This amount is actually the remaining cost after I was fortunate to have recently received a $1100 alumni scholarship from GLA towards the total tuition cost.
Your help will mean the absolute world to me!
I cannot wait to tell you all about my time studying the indigenous animals and learning about the rich history of the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador!
