Carolina Contreras DeHond has been fighting a very nasty cancer called Clear Cell Sarcoma for the past 6 years. People affected by this type of cancer usually only survive 1-2 yrs. Now she is considered stage 4...NOT GOOD...
We thank God for the people he has put in her life, starting with her so very special and loving husband Craig DeHond, her two very young daughters, her four siblings Daniela, Benjamin Contreras, Patricio & Marianela Contreras, and the entire family and friends that has been by her side all these years.
We also thank God for Carolina's (very unusual) strength demonstrated under a very difficult and scary situation in her life. Her strength has touched hundreds of lives locally as well as in other parts of the world. This is the same person who once was a "very strong minded teenager" on whom I once had to literally sit on, for her "to see my point". Little did I know that God was preparing her for this to come!
Three weeks ago she went into emergency surgery, as she was literally internally bleeding to death. They extracted 1 &1/4 gallons (yes 5 quarts) of blood from her abdomen, and she only weighs a little over 100 Lbs soak and wet.
NOW comes the worst part, her cancer has spread to some of her vital organs and she has been told her possibilities of surviving this nasty cancer have greatly diminished, in fact the doctors (but not God) are talking months...BUT...SHE IS NOT GIVING UP!!! (Oh her stength and determination is such an inspiration to Maria & I !!!)
Humanly speaking there is only one option available to keep her alive past this year and that option is not available in the US, so suddenly they are packing their bags to go to Europe. This is a very risky BUT life saving treatment...SHE JUST WANTS TO STAY ALIVE...
As you may imagine a trip like this is extremely costly, especially under these condition. Maria and ,I along with our entire family, are doing what ever we can financially, but we do have our limitations...this is the reason why we are turning to you and the community in general for a little help.
