Caring For Kerrbear

Caring for Kerrbear Benefit is a Go-Fund me Fundraiser in honor of Kerri Corcoran, My Sister. She is a 35 year old mother of two small children who is fighting rectal cancer. When Kerri was first diagnosed, she was initially told she was a stage 3. After several months of aggressive chemotherapy combined with radiation and surgery (which removed her rectum and resulted in her having a permanent colostomy bag), she spent the next year believing she was cancer free. After further tests, including a biopsy of the lungs, she was told that the cancer had metastasized to her lungs. This changed her diagnosis to a stage 4 rectal cancer. Devastatingly, this type of cancer is not curable at this time because it is in her blood and will always return. However, this is a slow growing cancer. The main goal now is to manage the cancer and keep it from spreading. The doctors are hopeful and positive that this is achievable.
Kerri is prepared to continue fighting this battle and is also taking several alternative therapies to keep this cancer manageable. Some of the things that she is doing herself are eating organic food and smoothies, exercising, and taking dozens of natural supplements daily. In addition to these expenses, are the expenses that go along with the daily colostomy care. As you can imagine, this has become very costly. To make matters worse, her insurance was cancelled so any treatments, tests, follow ups, doctor visits, etc. will all be out of pocket at this time.
Though this is the toughest time of her life, she is strong, positive, motivated and has a great support system to keep her going. With your help, she will have the assurance that she needs to continue her current health care regimen. Please take the time to consider helping her with this fight by donating to her cause and sharing this fundraiser. I, and my entire family, would like to make this as successful as possible.
