Care for Jackie

Donation protected
As most know Jackie is one of the most caring, helpful people you will meet. She would do anything to help anyone who was in need. She lived to serve and spent 25 years in law enforcement and 10 years in the miliatry. When the war in Irag began, without questions she was ready for action. She spent 18 months dployed over to Iraq for the war. In September of 2013, Jackie was taken to the hospital with what was suspected as a stroke. She had a week stay in Lee memorial hopital in Ft. Myers, FL where they ruled out stroke, but could not figure out what was wrong. After this week she was transferred to Bay Pines VA hospital in St. Pete, Fl. She spent 3 weeks there and then 2 weeks after she was release, they diagnosed her. She has Encephalopathy. This causes a large impact on her short-term memory. She is unable to remember anything within minutes of it happeneing. She also has trouble remembering some long term thing due to the extreme confusion she has. She has been being cared for by family and a wonderful family friend, who stepped up when it was needed. Unfortunateky instead of getting better, her health has began to decline. Now Jackie has difficulties with walking, has started to lose feeling on her entire left side of the body, and has been having seizures. On June 10, 2014 she was taking to Ocala Regional medical center due to one of these seizures. The doctors there say she now has an infection of the brain, which is making everything worse. It is hard for her body to fight  due to its already diminished capacity. She is at a point where she now needs to be placed in a skilled nursing facility. Unfortunately, this illness was unexpected and Jackie is still young. The VA will not help with anything, because this is not service connected. We have filed disability for her but it will not cover the cost of a nurisng facility and is still months away from approval and seeing any benefits. The cost of a nursing facility for Jackie, because of her memory issues is around $3000-$5000 per month. On top of the cost of the nursing facility, she has numerous medical bills that have to be paid as well. Her family is doing the best they can, but have no means to pay for everything needed. Jackie needs anyone's help. Please help  someone who has always been so selfless when it comes to other people needing help. Anything will help.
